  1. Privacy is very important to be mindful of in this era of a digitally connected world that is greatly aided by the use of new media technologies. Social media is also steadily being used by most individuals both young and old in today’s world. To prevent unwanted information from getting into the wrong hands, it is important to post information, words, and pictures that you are comfortable sharing with the world with the expectation that a data breach may be a rare occurrence which may impact a social media account or site. Also, we must use secure internet connections and trusted networks to ensure that we are not being spied upon by hackers who use information skimming techniques such as keystroke tracking to steal sensitive or otherwise personal information. Our most personal information about ourselves are our likenesses (facial features), our social security numbers, and our birthdays. This information should be kept secret from most people except select individuals or companies such as our families and financial institutions.
